Melody Sánchez-Luca

Princeton '16 Alumna Returning to Campus Staff

Following 7+ years in higher education and a period of flexible work to support family caregiving, I’m excited to rejoin campus life and contribute long-term.

Featured Experience

Undergraduate Program Director, Student Activities Org @ Emory

Provided administrative and strategic support for undergraduate programs, including planning, documentation, reporting, and coordination across students, faculty, and staff. Worked extensively in student-facing capacities, translating institutional policies and expectations into clear guidance while maintaining alignment with academic priorities. Designed and maintained systems to track participation, outcomes, and resource use.

Ministry Fellow (Affiliate Employee) @ Princeton

Served in a hybrid role combining direct student support with significant administrative responsibility. Coordinated programming, developed internal documentation and workflows, organized leadership meetings, and supported data collection and communications. Prior experience as a Princeton student informed my ability to navigate institutional structures with fluency and care.

Supported human-subjects research through participant recruitment, data collection, scheduling, documentation, and IRB-related processes. Redesigned outreach materials to improve enrollment and accessibility. Managed sensitive data and contributed to analysis and reporting in compliance with ethical research standards.

Research & Grants Management (~2 years)

Undergraduate Researcher @ Princeton

Designed and conducted an independent, interdisciplinary senior thesis examining how narrative framing and values influence belief formation and policy support. Managed the full research lifecycle, including proposal development, grant applications & compliance, IRB approval, data collection, statistical analysis, and public presentation of findings.

Dormitory Assistant @ Princeton

Served in a residential support role focused on student safety, community standards, and well-being. Responded to student needs in real time while coordinating with institutional protocols and campus resources.

My work history in Higher Ed spans student support, program leadership, research/grants administration, and institutional operations. Across roles, my focus has been consistent: helping complex systems function clearly, responsibly, and humanely for the people within them.

Program Administration (6 years)

Research Assistant @ Virginia Commonwealth U.

Operations (~3 years, student employment)

Why hire Melody?

2) I genuinely, deeply care about the work.

I’ve been invested in supporting Princeton students and systems since I was a student myself, as a Dormitory Assistant, through various clubs and USG committees, and more.

Those experiences stuck with me, and are the main reason I worked in higher ed for 7 years after graduating. Now, I'm ready to return to my "first love" and genuinely can't wait!

3) I'm here to stay

Princeton has always felt like home to me. Not in an abstract way, but in the sense that it is a place where I know how things work and where I want to contribute.

I’m not looking to pass through. I want to plant my feet here, move across roles as needed, and support the University over time. I care about continuity, institutional memory, and being someone who stays and helps things run well year after year.

1) I'm right for this moment.

As a “factotum,” I’ve done a little bit of everything throughout my life and work history. I have a track record of stepping into a wide range of responsibilities and doing them well, even on short notice.

In his recent State of the University letter, President Christopher Eisgruber describes Princeton’s shift “from growth to focus.” This moment calls for someone like me: a generalist who can support systems, people, logistics, and operations, and help things run more efficiently without adding unnecessary complexity or additional layers of support.
